Preserving cemeteries is essential because they serve as tangible links to our collective past, offering insight into the lives, cultures, and values of earlier generations. Headstones and inscriptions remind us of lives once lived and loved.
Preserving these sites demonstrates respect for those who came before us while ensuring that future generations can learn from and honor their legacy. As Maury County continues to grow, historic cemeteries are increasingly affected by development, raising questions about their protection and care.
The Maury Preservation Alliance and the Tennessee Historic Cemetery Preservation Program offer guidance and resources to help ensure these important sites are preserved and respected for future generations.
